In 2011, we created and produced custom hotel wall art for the Kerry Hotel Beijing. This is a luxurious 5-star hotel in the city centre, business district of Beijing, China. This hotel chain is part of the Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd.
We supplied art and framing for the function rooms and business area of the hotel. We discussed the art direction with the in-house art consultant and design team. The design concept would incorporate the theme of Chinese commerce and luxury. We created a series of abstract, Chinese ink artworks. All artworks are tailored to the hotel interior design and project requirements.
Alvin’s abstract ink paintings are composed of energetic yellow, red and black brush strokes. These create a sense of vibrancy in the meeting rooms and function rooms. The pre-function area includes a collection from Alvin’s “Cognizance” series. These are abstract, pointillist works in vibrant colour fields. The business centre reception area has his “Litho” fine art prints on canvas. This artwork is a study of rock compositions in mottled, earthy tones.
